This is a classic tale of love at first sight. As soon as I lay eyes on the rich glittery magenta with a swirl of burnt bronzy gold I knew we'd get on just fine, and let me tell you, this little beauty does not disappoint.
This is a Mineralize Blush from the Heavenly Creature collection, and at £19 a pop it is very much a luxury product, but sometimes you just can't say no to the urge to splurge and knowing that this is a limited edition product I just didn't want to take the risk of never having this in my collection!
Typically I don't opt for super shimmery blush colours being a bit phobic of looking like a glitter ball (moon face and sparkle are rarely a match made in heaven) but for a colour so gorgeous I really don't give a stuff. I needn't have really worried though, because although it looks like super shimmery on first swatch it does actually blend into a wearable colour in which the glitter takes a back seat which pleases me.
The swatches don't do it justice at all, and they really don't help me argue my next point, but please believe me when I say USE THIS SPARINGLY AND WITH A LIGHT HAND because boy oh boy is this only highly pigmented mo fo! On first application I thought I'd dusted off enough of the excess product. I was wrong, and subsequently looked like I was having an allergic reaction to something immediately after being punched in the face during something like a cross country run. This may sound like I'm being dramatic, and maybe I am (me after cross country running isn't something even the most skilled makeup artist could recreate - vile beyond believe) but seriously, this blush turned out as more of a reddish tinge and I think it would be easy to make yourself look like you're in serious need of some aloe vera after too long in the sun! Panic not though, because after some vigorous buffing with my foundation brush harmony was restored and I was left with a gorgeous flush of colour that gave my cheeks a healthy looking flush of colour.
These swatches really don't do the product justice, so I promise I'll post a photo of me wearing the blush with a full face of makeup (looks so different over foundation)
I don't know if you can tell, but I like this blush, I like it a lot. It's sold out on line but if you get a chance to swatch this in store I urge you to do so, but only if you're prepared to part with the cash because I suspect that if you try it, you'll love it!
What's your favourite blush? Do you have any blushes that you find you need to use with a very light hand to avoid looking like a clown?

This is gorgeous :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's great that it's presented too as I've tried many baked blushes like this that have no pigmentation
Such a beautiful colour
Xxx
I know, I'm really pleased with the pigmentation, glad you like the colour too! xxx
Deleteohh I love this! I recently just got the "centre of the universe" mineralise skinfinish. MAC did well with this collection. Love your reviews as always Alice x
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I agree, I think they did really well on this collection - I could have bought so many of the products! xxx
Deletethis is such a gorgeou product, it looks as good as a swatch as it does in the pot; its beautiful, i think i may have to pinch this from you until i get the pennies for my own.
ReplyDeleteanyway, thank you for the review mrs!

Glad you love it as much as I do...maybe you could go into MAC on a daily basis and get them to put it on for you - just as good as owning it but you get it for free and someone else does your makeup for you haha!!

This colour is gorgeous, and I love it when products are super pigmented, I feel like I get my moneys worth haha!

P.S I feel that I may have looked worse than you after any run, let alone cross country.
I know, every time you apply it you feel like you're saving money...or is that only in my twisted logic?!
DeleteOh god, me after exercise is simply disgusting - I don't just go red, but red and white patches where all the colour has drained from certain areas and gone crazy in another...I don't understand! Only thing to do to avoid such things, is to refuse to run. Simples.

I wish I was able to resist things because I don't need them, I used to be so good and only get things that were necessary (as in, I'd run out of something else) but I seem to have been stuck down with Blogging Fever which makes me view every cosmetic as an essential...!!

It looks so good on the swatch, what a great investment.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you approve of my purchase...makes me feel less guilty!!

woahhh -- this color! i love it!
ReplyDeletei really need more blushes. i love MAC's, but i hate the fact that they're $20 each. that's kind of ridiculous for a silly little blush. i've just added this color to my growing list of MAC blushes :)
